Zomba Mental Hospital has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Nasawa Technical College in a move aimed at strengthening vocational rehabilitation and empowerment initiatives.

The partnership, which will run for four years and is subject to renewal, seeks to provide technical and vocational training opportunities for clinically stable and discharged clients through the hospital’s Occupational Therapy Department. Training areas include ICT, Plumbing, Electrical Engineering, Carpentry, Fashion and Design, among others.

The collaboration will also support the establishment of a Vocational Rehabilitation Centre at Zomba Mental Hospital, provide industrial attachment opportunities for students, enhance staff capacity through vocational training, and facilitate technical support in curriculum development and programme implementation.

The signing ceremony was attended by senior management from both institutions, reaffirming their commitment to promoting recovery, skills development, and community reintegration for mental health clients.
